1st stage: Study and estimate |

The multidisciplinary team (the stomatology and maxillofacial surgeon, the dental surgeon, the dental assistants and the nurses), will collect all the information necessary for your case such as:
• your general state of health.
• the state of health of your mouth.
• X-rays and scans.
• any computer modelling.
• moulds of your mouth.
• photos of your face and your dentition.
• blood tests if needed.
A treatment plan with:
• the different treatment options.
• the prognosis.
• the time required.
• the necessity of a bone transplant in advance.
• the type of anaesthesia (local in the great majority of cases, or general).
• the possibility of immediate temporary teeth.
• the cost.
An estimate will be prepared and presented during your second visit. With this accurate information, you will be in a position to take a decision. |
2nd stage: The insertion of a (or the) dental implant(s) |
This stage is equivalent to the extraction of a tooth.
After the anaesthesia, the bone is drilled to create a standard hole then the implant is screwed to the interior.
The implant will be left like this in the bone for a period of 2 to 6 months to become incorporated into the bone, that is to say that the bone is laid down gradually on the surface of the titanium implant.
You continue to wear the original prosthesis, which will be modified to protect the site of the implant or you will have a temporary tooth immediately on the implant. |
3rd stage: Implant is exposed
NOTE: this stage is necessary if a temporary crown was not placed immediately.
From 2 to 6 months later, the intervention is to screw an abutment into each implant to close the gum around the head of the implant. |
| |
The same day or a few days later after the third stage, we take impressions in order to send them to the laboratory. |
5th stage: Permanent prosthesis |
The temporary crowns are removed (if they were used) and the ceramic crowns or bridges (or the prostheses) that have been prepared in the laboratory are inserted.
